Remote join to domain (windows 7 and Server 2008 R2)

has anyone implemented this feature yet?

I have 4 new laptops arriving and I don't have the time to site visit. I remember reading about remote joining to the domain and wondered if anyone had done it.

I do it a few times a week, just setup a vpn to the office and bobs your uncle

Hmm, not sure that's what I mean. This isn't a normal VPN function / feature.

Basically it allows machines that are new (and in a workgroup) to be joined to a domain (permanently) as if in the office. So, in theory, when you do get chance to take the machine onsite its already part of the domain.

Yes thats exactly what I mean, if you VPN in then try and join the domain it will work just as it would if the client is in the office, as long as you dont have any software that is installed on the computer during the bootup you'll be fine.

It's got nothing to do with the "vpn feature".

Ahh ok cool. I thought I'd read somewhere that there wasn't a need to "vpn", but I guess there's not another way to do it.
