Hey all,

Just intrigued as to whether or not there is any software out there which would allow a user to do things with their PC remotely, say, using an Android phone or similar.

Booting up, powering down, starting/stopping downloads, openning programmes etc.

Just out of curiosity :)

Yes. You can do everything remotely that can be done locally, though booting up can be tricky. Windows tends to go for remote desktop, otherwise there is vnc. Ssh is the answer if you're using a command line.

It's not unusual to control computers entirely remotely, generally with ssh.

From an android device. Really?

O/T but if using this process. I take it you cannot physically turn the pc off/on remotely. Is it just put into sleep mode.

Or is there a way of somehow remotely turning a computer on / off ?
