Remove googlemail account from HTC Desire

Hello

Is there any way under the sun to remove a googlemail account set up on the googlemail app ??

I can see no way of doing this (without the phone telling me I need to do a facorty reset)

I just want to start using K9 as my main email client but no matter what I do, googlemail is there, with all my email details LOCKED into it, always synching and always assuming I want to use it.

Any help please ???

Just turn googlemail updates off. Go to data synchronisation sub menu.

Hmmmm.... just untick Sync Calenda, Sync contacts and Sync Googlemail ?
Good plan.

I have just found that using the astro file manager, I can actually uninstall googlemail direct from its root folder but I'm a bit scared to do that.

By locked I mean that there is no way of changing any of the settings or removing an account that is already set up. Once it's on, its on forever

Yeah I've been there and tried that.
It then goes on to tell you that it's linked to other important features and actually CAN'T be removed without a factory reset.

Guess it something to do with being tried into the market place..

Factory reset is indeed the only way to totally remove a Googlemail account.

Yeah, just did the factory reset and then started having that issue with apps not downloading because of the difference between gmail and googlemail
