didnt you want to become a cartoon then ?

Are you signed in? Pretty sure you won't get the ads if you've got an account.

never seen any ads at all on youtube, are they flash based? if so dont know how you would block them without affecting the videos themselves.

if they are coming from a ad server then my hosts file is blocking it .

Will look into adblock.

Ye they are flash ads build into the player itself. only come up on about 30% of videos. Supposedly its part of adsense now but as it always seems to be the same ad about the cartoon I'm not sure it isnt something dodgy.

Actually just tried installing 'tubestop' for firefox. Solves the problem but it also disables HD content so it's a bit rubbish.

Even tried setting my youtube account to 'opt out of advertising' as well as removing all interest from my google account and installing the google 'opt out' cookie for firefox.

Looks like I'm just destined to become a cartoon.

There seems to be a lot of people asking for help with this on youtube so it's not just me by the looks of things. Reading more into it, it loks like the ads only appear on the videos of youtube partners as its adsense's way of making money from the videos. Blinkin annoying though.

Here is a pic of what I'm talking about

I've tried ad block and it ended up blocking the actal video. :/

they also have an opt out option on google ads, if you look under your account setting page.
Tried that..... Still doesn't work!
It's something that's been driving me nuts too.

Just noticed on my youtube settings there is an option to unlink my youtube and google accounts. Perhaps this is why not everyone gets them, if there accounts aren't linked.
