Will permanently removing the alarm siren cause any issues with my car?

My Audi A3 alarm constantly kept going off last night for hours. It has done this previously but went off after a while. What ever i did i could not switch it off, the car would automatically lock after 30 seconds and then the alarm would start again. Apart from removing the battery or leaving the boot/bonnet open which i didnt really want to do. I removed the central locking fuses, switched off the in car sensors, made sure all the doors, bonnet and boot was closed properly. In the end i had to remove the siren which was hidden deep in the boot under the sub and cd changer :(

I have read that the battery in the siren commonly leaks but I don’t intend on paying for a new one as it’s a 2000 reg car.

The siren is similar to mine IIRC, mine failed so when the alarm was going off the siren wouldn't sound (the battery pack inside leaked and corroded the circuit board).

I simply unplugged the siren till i got a new one ordered, car seemed happy without it, only thing i'd say is it sounds like you've got a failed door switch or sensor setting the alarm off since the siren seems to work fine, unplugging it might cause the cars alarm to set off and flash the indicators still, i would vagcom it and trace the fault, the software will tell you exactly which sensor has failed.

The lights dont flash when the alarm goes off which is good. What make me think its the siren is the sound it makes. The sound isnt a constant beep beep beep, as they randomly go quiet (if that makes sense).

Where can i get the vagcom software from? I dont really want to take it to a garage.
