Hi all,

I can't get my car started despite replacing everything along the system with parts of a working car, its just not producing a spark.

I have no idea what immobiliser it is, you just put a fob to a metal connector, light goes out and you start it up (if it was running).

Any ideas on the best way of removing it from the car to see if its the problem?

Take it to someone who knows what they're doing. Immobilisers can be a total nightmare.

If you want to tackle it yourself you need to find the control unit(probably hidden behind dash trim or footwell trim). Identify what brand/model it is and try and find a manual online. You'll also want a wiring diagram for your car. You can then undertake putting the wiring loom back to how it would have been pre-immobiliser.

What car is it?

its a VW Corrado 1.8 16v. There is a large black box attached to the firewall in the engine bay side that isn't on the other 1.8 rado so I assume that is part of the system.

Not at home at the moment but can't remember seeing a make/model on it.

Ah a proper car!

The control box won't be under the bonnet, it'll be hidden inside the car.

First place I'd look in under the steering wheel, Take the trim off, You are likely to find a cable that has been cut and joined to two other cables, Join the cable back up.

Some systems cut fuel also (can you hear the pump prime when you turn ignition on?)
