I foolishly let a mate use my computer for the last few days while i've been at the work, but the dopey git has gone and downloaded a pirate copy of NFS:Most Wanted and installed it on my system. Now i'm not gonna debate the rights and wrongs of this, it's wrong, plain and simple and I want it off my system, but for some reason I can't get rid of the .mdf file. I know nothing about this kinda thing, as i never play pirated games. I've deleted everything but the NFSMW-MINI.mdf file, everytime I try to delete, it says it is being used by another person or program, can anyone help me get this off my system please! The other annoying thing is that it's taking up 1.7Gigs of space...

EDIT: Have tried booting into safe mode and deleting it like that, but still no luck :(

Do you have anything like daemon running in the task bar down in the corner. It looks like a lightening bolt in a square.

The image might be mounted and thats why you can't delete it. So unmount the virtual drive and then you can delete it.

if it's mounted in a virtual drive such as daemon tools, then you'll need to "eject" the virtual disk first. simply right click the virtual drive in 'my computer' and select 'eject'.... :)

edit: too slow hehe... :D

It's an image file so it's probably been mapped to a virtual CDROM drive.

HAve you got Nero or Daemon Tools installed? These are usually used to create virtual drives.
Look in "My Computer" does it have more CDROMs than you would expect? IF it does then my previous sentence is probably the cause. Usually you can dismount it by right click on the CDROM and select eject, or uninstall the software.

EDIT: Well well well, aren't we all being helpful tonight :p
