You can also do the complete opposite of this, wait for a really cold winter morning and pour boiling water over small dings and they sometimes instantly pop out

(or cave in and end up being twice as bad!)

does using hot water on cold metal damage the paintwork at all?

Saw a video, hairdryer on the dented area, then spray a can of compressed air(holding it upside down)

I may have to give this a try, there is always dry ice at work!
Apparently it doesn't work on aluminium.

It can have the total opposite effect though and make a dent twice as big.
