Hi,

I have a DLINK NAS setup with a RAID1 array and 2 disks. Is it possible to remove a disk from this and access the content from Windows? I know it will be formatted as EXT - but as long as I can access the data from the drive...

You've got 2 questions here really first is - Can I take a mirrored disk and access data on it? To which the answer is sometimes, maybe. Second is can Windows read ext3/4 partitions? To which the answer is not natively and even with 3rd party tools there is a good chance of messing up the filesystem when accessing it.

e: If it's a case of needing to get data off a knackered NAS you would be better off using a live linux boot cd and trying to access it that way.

It's ok, I think I can work around the issue for now. I'm migrating to Windows server essentials using storage spaces, so I'll just use a go-between drive to ferry the data about.
