Hi guys, currently in the middle of DIY refurbing my alloy wheels. Im using Nitromoors to remove the old paint BUT im having a little trouble. The Nitromoors is making the old paint bubble and its a doddle to remove, the primer below the paint however is VERY VERY hard and Nitromoors isnt having much, if any effect on this.

Is there anything out there i can use to remove the old primer thats pretty well stuck to my wheels?

The primer is probably an etching epoxy (as they are alloy wheels and not much else sticks) and it's likely the Nitromores won't go through it. You could try an industrial stripper which is stronger but more dangerous and you should be able to get that from a local paint factor. That's a bit like a motor factor but specialising in paint products and you should be able to find one near you in the Yellow Pages. You could also try and rub it off with 80 or 30 grit paper but that's going to be hard work.

Otherwise if you're planning to paint them again leave it alone as it's keyed into the aluminium well and it will ensure your new paint will stick well.

Why not just leave it on there?

Because in areas there is bubbling under the primer, ive tried grinding these areas down and filling them but i cant get them perfect. Would rather rip off all the old primer and start fresh.

EDIT
Apparently english is my first language :D
