Picked a Coolermaster case out of the scrap pallet today at work, there are a couple of scratches on it as a result, can it be resurrected to look like new?

If they are fine scratches try T-Cut.

Found out the case is a 201B the one with the champagne (say poo) coloured sides which actually don't look too bad in the flesh so to speak.

I always thought the idea of a brownish coloured case a bit pants.

I've had a good look at the outside finish of the case during dinner. It only needs a bit of a clean up to make it look okay (i'm thinking just soapy water and kitchen roll?).

There is one quite deep cut which may need filing in however i am considering cutting a window out instead, The rest of the scratches i found are really small so i will just have a go at polishing them out.

Unfortunately its missing 2 x 5 1/4 bezels and 1 x 3 1/2 bezel is missing can these still be sourced?

If there are any scratches on the front panel do not have a go at rubbing them out!

The front panel is anodized and although wet and dry will remove the scratch it will also remove the anodized surface leaving worse blemish as it were.

A nice window mod would suit the side panel alternatively you could strip the side panels back to the alu underneath for an all silver case - nitromores would do the job nicely. if you don't want to go either of those roots and assuming the scratched panel is the left side as you look at the case, then you could get a pre modded window Google for "CoolerMaster SPB-201FV Panel" Assuming it's the SX1 version - slated top blow hole (SX2 has a mesh top blow hole) as that window wont fit the SX2 and afaik you can;t get the champagne window panels for the SX2 any more.

The 201s came with only 3 5.25" bezels so if you have 2 still then your only missing 1. They cannot be purchased off the shelf, but you may be able to get replacements form cooler master (will have to pay for them) however they will not be exactly the same as the original 201 bezels as cooler master no longer have any 201 spares! Wavemaster,210,220,110,111,200,praetorian bezels will all fit

Blooming good find though, and please post some pictures!

Edit: you say it's a 201b - the "b" stands for window, so i'm assuming the scratch it on the other side as your thinking of modding a window into it

Bingo, the 201 black widow style in black with the sprakly paint is Mercedes black car paint so all the car products work a treat on it. :)

You could just try colouring the scratches, ie for wood use shoe polish of a similar colour. It won't totally remove scratch of course, but it hides it pretty well from a casual glance.

201c-SX2

You are only missing one 5.25" and one 3.5" bezel, as said before they were only shipped with 3 5.25" bezels

Doesn't appear to already have a window and unfortunatley you wont find a window panel for that case, so you will need to mod your own.

Very nice save from the skip
