Removing security tags

Seems excessive security for razor blades, are they diamond-edged or something?

nope but they are pricey items and a favourite of shop lifters.

then again so is meat and cheese up here it seems. Our local Tesco has started tagging packs of chicken and cheese Madness!

just take the item back to the shop

2 things that can happen if you try it yourself

1. you damage the item making its return not possible

2. someone sees you trying to de-tag an item and calls the police, you get locked away for years. then by the time you are free from jail, it will be to late to return the item.

What cost is the additional security packaging?

I'm glad I don't use razors if that's how much they cost though, good lord.

The security boxes are reusable though so once the store's paid for them they last a really long time.

With certain items the stopping of shoplifting of them will pay for the security gubbins in no time.

I purchased something online from New Zealand once which came with a security tag on, there was no way I could send it back or take it into a shop.

I ended up spending about an hour trying to remove the thing with a hacksaw. If I ever encounter such an issue again, I'd just return it to a shop (if possible).

Assuming someone doesn't steal them. :p

Plastic box can just be cut/sawn through though? I've cut straight through toughened plastic like butter before using a knife heated on the stove, crude but fast and effective.

I work in retail, and very recently a gentleman came back with his razor cartridge pack still in the security case.
He had attempted many things to try and break them free, and even ran the case over with his car, to no avail. The plastic was designed to twist and destroy the product before it can be freed, hence his razors were nothing but shards of metal in a warped plastic cocoon.

He asked for a refund, I kindly told him to shove it.

Like these:

He's an idiot then. How about using a hacksaw, or a drill, or heck, even a normal saw. You could probably get into them easily with a hammer and flat head screwdriver! Why the hell do you run over them with a car!

EDIT: Or the heated knife trick. :p Or, my personal favourite for cutting foam, a bit of high resistivity wire attached to a pp3 battery. Your own cheese wire that goes through an plastic in seconds.
...Actually, that latter one could be used in a store rather easily, just the smell would be an issue...

A pack can easily last a year if you only shave once or twice a week. Twin that with the free razer that came through the post and a cheap have.:p
