Removing Ubuntu

If you've only got Ubuntu installed on the drive just format it. Windows installer (or another distro of Linux) will give you the option to at the start of their setup programs.

If you've got it installed on a secondary partition, delete/format the partition and run fixmbr at the XP recovery console (assuming you're using XP as your primary OS) to remove the GRUB bootloader.

Not sure - I don't want to assume it will because you can end up with an unbootable system if you screw up the bootloader.

I am totally fed up with configuring Ubuntu for internet access. I have made the decision to remove it, but how would I do it?

Out of curiosity what are the issues your having with net access? My laptop has a horrible broadcom chipset wifi card which isn't supported by Ubuntu but with ndiswrapper and wicd to sort out wpa it only takes a few minutes to setup.

Using 7.10 should give you the option of using the restricted drivers, something I am having to do on this laptop as the PCMCIA wlan card isn't natively supported.. is wlan your problem?

failure! keep Linux, theres nothing wrong with having it there! You never know when you might like to just load it up one day when bored and try loads of things out to see if you can get it working! Its taken me a, Linux newbie, 3 days to get it working how i like it, and even know videos play a tad odd! but its just something fun to play about with when there isn't a lot else to do!

I don't even go into it any more, since I don't have an answer

Boot from your Windows disk & press R to get into the recovery console.
There, run the two commands fixboot & fixmbr
Finally, go into disk management in XP & reformat the Linux partion as you please.

download Gparted, burn the iso to disk. Boot the Gparted disk, format your HDD as you please!

Then insert Windows CD press R to get into the recovery console.
There, run the two commands fixboot & fixmbr

Actually Vista is different, I did this the other day. Fixboot and fixmbr doesnt work in Vista.

Format the Ubuntu partition. Then put your Vista disk in, restart and boot to CD. Go to "repair computer" and then "command line" and type "Bootrec.exe /FixMbr" (without the quote marks). It should say something to show it has worked, then restart and it should boot to Vista fine.
