just fitted an ssd with a fresh install of w7 no probs
my hdd is used as storage, games, steam, music
i was thikin of tidying up unused programmes/files,is it safe to remove old windows files or am i not aloud to do that

If it's strictly a storage drive then deleting stuff will not have any effect. Files in the Windows directory may be locked though.

It would be better if you just did a quick format in My Computer. But I'm guessing you've got loads of stuff on there that you want to keep?

yes lots,i have however got another hdd that i might transfer my games and music over to and then format the other drive, does anyone know if i can safely copy over without losing any game saves though

Game saves live in lots of different places so there is no hard and fast rule, your best best is to Google each game and find out where the saves are and copy them before you delete anything from the drive.
