As most of us do now I buy a lot of stuff online and a few of these stores deal only in Paypal or when you buy and sell items via here on MM.

Now my problem is that my bank card is attached to my ex-girlfriends Paypal account and I don't have access to it anymore.
I have rung Paypal but they wouldn't believe that I was the card holder even if I sent them a scan of my passport.

The person on the other end was just generally very unhelpful and said "No" and "Not possible" a lot, Judging from this persons English I actually think he/she didn't fully understand me.

Is there anyway I can get through to them that I'm the card holder, I know I can just cancel my card and make a new Paypal account but my bank takes a standard of 6 weeks to send out a new card and Paypal takes a further 1-2 weeks to transfer funds and validate your bank account/card.

Any info or tips would be appreciated :)

Six weeks to send out a new card? Normally it's about a week. Who do you bank with?

If it were me, I'd ask the bank for a replacement card as yours has been damaged, then cancel the 'damaged' card when your replacement arrives.

Can't you just ask your bank/cc company to refuse any transactions from paypal and inform them why?

oh wait you still want to use paypal

I bank with Halifax, 6 weeks is good for them, The time before that it took them just over 2 months to issue a replacement lol

I still want to use Paypal but it would make it so much easier if I could transfer my card to my own account instead.

I guess your only other option is a visit to your exGF who might have unlinked your card anyway and ask her to show you it's gone.

I know my ex wouldn't have any issue with that she would likely just tell me her login and password so I could myself.

But I'm assuming you didn't split on good terms.

BTW I don't think paypal let's you have the same card on 2 different accounts it never used to anyway so even if you get a replacement card with a different 3 digit number on the security strip you likely can't use it on paypal.

I'm assuming you don;t get a whole new account number on your card? I've never had to replace one

Easier to just get a new card replaced in all honesty. If your bank is taking up to 6 weeks to issue you out a new card then you need to have a word with them or change banks because there is no way it should take that long.

HSBC replaced my card within 3 working days.

I bank with Halifax, damaged card was replaced within 7 days, ring them and tell them that your card is lost, only problem is though that they will put a stop on any transactions from the card if you go down the 'lost' route.

Yep, Lloyds... 3 days to replace my card!! Sound like Halifax are really trying to not have to put the paperwork through!!

Ok phoned Halifax, Thankfully they open on Sundays, Canceled my current card, I just said it was damaged :p , My replacement card will be here in 3-5 working days *Can't see it happening* So then hopefully I'll be able to use Paypal again.

6 weeks? I got a new card with Natwest 2 weeks ago. I went into the branch and said I want a new one with the contactless payment built in. It arrived 36 hours later.

If you have said your card was damaged, will they not issue a new one with the same number?
Are you actually any better off?
When I have a new card sent, the number stays he same, but the expiry changes, is this enough to save you from paypal?
