Does anyone know of a way of renaming a selection of files, along the lines of:
REN Track*.MP3 CD1*.MP3
or
MV Track*.MP3 CD1*.MP3

I suspect that someone may have ported some UNIX commands to Windows but haven't been able to find anything useful with Google.

cygwin probably has a rename function in there somewhere.

I quite like Flash Renamer by RL Vision. Shareware but if you only need it a couple of times you'll be fine. :)

Ant renamer lets you edit large numbers of files simultaneously, with either one or many sequential renaming operations, including support for audio metadata (which it looks like den4b doesn't)
Don't know about cygwin - it looks quite complex, but that probably means it does absolutely everything!
