Hey guys,

This care has been a nightmare for me... So much so that in the end I decided to get a new car. But now, the nightmare continues! Basically, the guy who came out to fix it (Fitted a new camshaft) had noticed that one of the bolts is missing... Which could cause more problems down the line for the next owner of the car.

I was wondering what the "pitch" of these bolts are as places I have been ringing seem to ask me that. But really, I haven't a clue what they're on about.

Not sure if anyone will be able to help! But said bolt is below:

Thank you :)

Just in case you didn't realise, that isn't a standard bolt, it's something called a "banjo bolt" and is used to pass fluids (engine oil, brake/clutch etc.) from a pipe into some other component. Replacing it with a standard bolt would be pretty disastrous.

You should be easily able to measure the pitch with a standard ruler with millimeter markings. Measure the distance between 10 threads and divide the result by 10; this should be good enough to tell whether it's e.g. 1.5, 1.25 or 1.0mm.

A quick check of the pic in MS paint suggests this has a 1.25mm pitch assuming the diameter of the thread is 10mm (common size), but you should measure it to be sure.

The word you are looking for is "metric fine"

But as has been said, that is not just a bolt, it's a banjo bolt.

Dealer only and a hell of a lot less hassle than trying to find one the right size, length and diameter to fit from anywhere else.

Thanks for the info guys, I'll have a look at measuring the pitch at lunch time. Also thanks for the heads up about it being called a banjo bolt, I could see it had holes in to pass fluid through, just wasn't sure what it's special name was!

No need to measure the pitch. Just tell the dealer where it fits and they should pull up a diagram for you to point it out if it's confusing.
It's a 2001 car, it'll be metric and it'll be a fine thread.
