Renewing my passport

I need to get a new passport as my current one has expired.

Currently filling out the application but I don't know whether I should be filling it out as "renewing an adult passport" or as first adult passport.

Most people have said renewing an adult passport but one person seemed particularly adamant that it should be filled out as first adult passport...wonder whether anyone can shed light on the issue?

Got my current passport in 2004 (was 14) and expired earlier this year.

Seem to remember when I renewed mine last year that I put first adult passport.

Yeah i had to send off my old passport and i did the photos at the post office before sending it off (the guy in the post office did the countersigning i think)

I had a 5 year child passport expire and got a new one the other month. I applied for renew adult passport. Didnt need the photos countersigned as the post office girl politely pointed out my appearance hasnt changed in the slightest since i was 14 (now 21). If you look a lot different though youll need them signed. Sent it off with the post office check and send thing, was back in just over a week. very fast. although for £80 i should expect it to be.

I posted same thread recently:

I made the mistake of assuming I had a child's passport because it only lasted 7 years (i think - compared to my parents which lasted 10). Luckily I realized this and all I needed to do you renew it. However, my photo had changed a lot since I was 13-14 (im 22 now), so I got a new photo which needed to be counter-signed by some official person who knows you.

I then took it to the post office with my old passport and used their 'check and send' service. They just check over the form and make sure there are no mistakes, it only takes 2 weeks turnaround this way. During the period when I was waiting for my passport they sent the new one back to me with the corners cut off.

Are the Gov giving out the new passports with the chip built in with all you info on it
or has anyone here got one.
