Is there no fully online system for this?

This page suggests there is, as an alternative to sending something by post

But the online system still seems to require printing something out (declaration form) and posting it?

we did my daughters last summer, filled everything out online, printed off the relevant pages then sent off the supporting documents. It was really easy. Getting her US passport renewed was a pain in the backside as non of it can be done online and you need a second mortgage to pay for it.

^ This.

Did mine too. New pic was approved a couple of days after they received my old passport.

Whole thing took a week.

The wife and I recently used the Post Office Check and Send service to renew ours and our new passports arrived within the week as well was very impressed with the text messages letting us know how our renewal was proceeding :)

As I understand it for renewals the Passport Office is very quick now its only for first applications that take a lot longer and maybe require a person to person interview.

I also renewed my passport online a few weeks ago. Fill out the form, take your photo, post your old passport back and after about 10 days you get a new one in the post :)

Renewed online 2 weeks ago, uploaded a photo i took on my phone and it was all approved and delivered within 5 days of payment.

Unless you're renewing a passport that was issued by a Consulate outside the U.K. that now no longer issues passports, in which case you'll be messed about for weeks while they try and assess the grounds that the passport was issued on in the first place.

And then after all the stress, 2 days before you're due to travel, the Passport office suddenly decides that they've had sufficient documentation from you in their possession for months to actually issue you a new passport from scratch.

.........I sent my passport off 3 days ago,
Was miffed there was no online process haha, I didn't see any option to upload a photo?
Just sent a new photo off with my old passport (having filled out the online form) A bit annoying I didn't get the option to upload :/

I filled my passport and didn't want to send it back cause sometimes they don't return it so i did a replacement passport instead of renewed, bit did it all online. Just uploaded a new pic and they set it out pretty quick.

Got mine to renew soon, only 140 days till my holiday so ill probably leave the new passport until the holiday is a week away :)

I got my second passport in about a week, they are really quick now, having 2 UK passports confuses the crap out of people on the check in desk though.

For those people saying they got their pasport delivered in a week, which service did you use?

I need to renew my adult passport and i need it within 2 weeks, but the website is saying i need to book an appointment at my nearest office which is 95miles away.

I used check and send, post office said if passport needed 3 weeks or less they would not accept it.

You have 2 choices

Get it filled in and sent today using check and send at post office telling them your holiday is more than 3 weeks away and taking a chance on it arriving in time.

Or make the appointment and get it same day.

Thanks for that. I really thought it was much easier with renewal but it's not. I've still got to fill out forms and travel long distances if i want it quickly. It's ridiculous. I live in the 2nd largest city in the country yet i've still got to travel 190 miles round trip. :fuming
