Rent-a-PC ?

If it's purely for gaming surely you'd be better off going for something like GeForce Now?

Hell, it'd be cheaper to buy a machine on finance if it came down to it long term (not that I'd recommend doing so).

The specs don't even make any sense, who came up with those combinations?

Anyone buying into this needs their head examined.

1 year subscription, 5600X + 4070 super.

$50+ (12x$119) = $1,478 = ~ £1,150

Pretty sure I can build that PC for under that price BUT for someone who can't build is it worth it? I'd still say no unless you cannot afford the up front £1,100.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £1,132.93 (includes delivery: £0.00)

Quick throw together AM5 build with a 7600 and 4070S, you could just as easily swap the GPU out for a 7900GRE.

Cheaper and better specs.

Windows keys are about a tenner, in fact you don't even need one as all you actually lose is some minor functionality that doesn't impact gaming without.

As someone who buys prebuilts, I honestly really don't see the point of something like this unless it was way cheaper (approximately £2300 over 2 years, really? Could get a 4070Ti system for that or save money and get a 4070 Super system)

Would honestly just rather set aside a certain amount of money each month to buy a new one in 2-3 years.

Complete agreement! a decent internet connection and cloud streaming services are a far superior option here.

Don’t get the use case for this unless you need a pc for a really short time.

0% cc would make more sense and pay it off over a year or two and have something you own which has value rather than something you just give back

I mean NZXT is pretty overpriced anyway, but the few gaming PC rental services I see (after looking it up) are poor value as well. I struggle to see the point (even if your gaming PC is broken or whatever, would honestly just get GeForce Now for a month)

At least a 2-3 year old PC still has value you can put towards a new PC.

Actually, i might be interested in this!

My lad is off to the US in a few day for 8 - 10 months. We are struggling to think how to get him a PC for his time out there - maybe a short term rental PC is the answer.

Maybe see how much this would cost and then build a PC when over in the US and then sell it on out there before returning back at least then you get some money back but would depend on how much parts are in the US etc

That was the plan originally - buy one when out there. However, it seems PC's are a bit cheaper out there and he was on about bringing it back, but then you have the issue of shipping and costs and also would a US PC actually work in the UK - voltage etc?

He has options anyway.

It's a poor deal all around, even if it was the same price you still don't own anything at the end of the day.

If you can't afford to pay for one upfront then you probably shouldn't be considering buying an expensive gaming PC in the first place better yet just save $119 for 12 months and buy it after a year and you will likely better hardware for the money or the same for less.
