Hello all,

I'm currently trying to repair the volume controller for the Creative T7100 7.1 Surround Sound speakers having already contacted Creative Support to be told I can't get a replacement (probably should have both the Logitech system instead but can't change the past now).

Basically what's happening is that it's now impossible to set a volume, basically I have to turn it to 'loud' then fiddle with the system volume to get an acceptable level. Even then the volume doesn't stick and will get progressively lower over time or suddenly get exceptionally loud if I blow vaguely in it's direction.

I'm guessing my problem lies with a dodgy potentiometer within the volume controller but I was just wondering if anyone has encountered a similar problem with Creative speakers and had success fixing it?

Thanks in advance,
Antar.

this is a common problem and the only way to fix it is to replaced the faulty potetiometer.Try cleaning the potetionmeter with a contact cleaner.let it dry and put a small drop of oil to the potentiometer this will help a bit but not if the potentiometer has heavily deteriorated.

Yeah I've tried cleaning it and while there is some improvement it's still not right. I'm going to have to try and get a replacement it would seem.
