Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

Repaste method

Pretty much sums it up, as long as you put a decent amount on its about 1c difference in temperature. Basically as long as the method isn't 'none' you're fine... Many people use a cross lately just to be sure you get a good coverage across the lid but keep in mind the actual die is in the centre anyway.

What you have to remember is the paste is only there to fill in any imperfections on the cooler/CPU casing. Too much paste and you won't get a good contact but too little can result in gaps. I have tried many different ways and found the best is to put a small pea size amount on and as the cooler is placed, give it a twist both ways if possible and screw it up (not too tight either).
