Currently got a 7900GTO (which i only bought in Oct'06!)

But getting really tempted by the BFG 8800GTS OC 640mb

On the other hand i could wait to see what ATI does next or even hold out for a 8900 with DDR4 and a faster GPU.

It's so tempting to upgrade when you see all these new 3dmark06 scores and although most current games are fine, i think the 7900GTO is really gonna struggle in the next few months!

I was about to buy the exact same card but EasyRider and Loadsamoney reminded me that the 8900 should be about in 3 weeks.

The 8900GTS looks like it will come in at 600/2000 DDR4 with 128 stream processors. Also it will boast an 80nm process. So all round I can see it being a bit more powerful than 640mb 8800GTS so I think it's best to wait a few weeks. After 8900 and R600 is out I hope it will be at least 6 months without something else to want hehe.

Yes I would hold out to see what the 8900 brings :)

The 8800 GTS will drop for sure!

So they'll be out before R600? ATI really better get a move-on :p Unless they don't actually want to sell any cards...

Yeah they'll be here before R600, thats around May now so i read somewhere, and 7 months after the 8800, ouch, thats a lifetime in graphics cards that. :D

I think R600 is going to be launched with their physics etc..., they have to do something to get ppl interested in the R600 now as its well old now, gona have to be something special seen as it will be 2x cards behind Nv. :)

I have 7950 theres not massive diffrence in that and yours.

I see no point to jump in and buy one the 8800S, I my self am waiting for the 8900S and there said to be around end of March.

like the other guys said when they do the other cards will drop in price so all you do is spend more money for no reason as there no games out there needs that type of power yet and I run games at 1280*1024

If you can't wait a few weeks go down the EVGA route so that you can upgrade the card when the new cards are released.

the truth ^^ like i said the other day... im getting a 320mb gts, then once have some more money in about 45 days i will upgrade it. Hopefully they will make a ACS KO version of the 8900gts
