I have woodchip on my ceilings, can this be skimmed over?
But surely the cost of materials to put up new studwork and boarding is close to that of paying someone to skim the existing ceiling anyway?

What stud work i plan on removing the old ceiling and replacing the plasterboard.
Worked it out would be about £50 in plasterboard, tape and a bag of jointing compound.
He's not going to paper it, he's just going to paint the board. I personally prefer a skim over as I can never get jointed board to look good, but jointed feather edge board is a legitimate way to finish a wall/ceiling...
