more questions in my never ending search for a laptop!
looking at a hp probook wondering if it is possible to replace the optical drive with a hdd - i have an external dvd, and storage would be more useful than a dvd drive, have seen on some of the site where you can build your own that they offer this but just interested if anyone on here has done it??

cheers

Funnily enough I have just ordered a caddy to do exactly this on my elitebook so I would assume that it wouldn't be a problem on yours either.

The only thing I am unsure about and cannot find a conclusive answer to is if I can use the hard drive in the caddy as the primary drive with the original hard drive as the secondary?

Just an update if anybody is interested.

My caddy arrived and works perfectly, even allowing either of the hard drives to be selected as boot drives which was a concern after reading some owners forums.

The only complaint is the external plastic cover which would normally be the optical drive bay door doesn't quite line up properly but I can overlook this for the price and ease of installation.
