Replace Radeon HD2900 XT

There's quite a few threads in there yes.

Since you seem to just want lower power consumption and something which is quieter, why not it's same performing tree-friendly newer brother, the 3870? Or since you prefer nVidia, 9600GT?

i would go with something like a 3650Xt or 9600GT, something very low power if your not interested in gaming.

Thanks for all the MM info. i will check that out before i sell my stuff :)

i didnt understand that ether, i dont think ebay is classed as a competitor to Overclockers.... is it?

Dunno, going by what people say its open to interpretation. Suppose b&q could also be classed as a competitor as they do sell a few bits and pieces like blank discs and stuff.

About 4 weeks ago I got £72 on the bay of E for my 2900Pro.

I'm hoping to get about £90 for each of my 8800GTX's :(. (shakes fist in the air at ATI :p)

How is a place that sells ONLY second hand stuff a competitor?

but overclockers sels B Grade stuff which could be classed as second hand...

Hi all,
I'm looking to replace this beastie, NOT to something that can get my 8 million FPS in Crysis or anything, but something that USES LESS POWER!

8 million FPS in crysis can i borrow your time machine

if sticking with ATi go for either a 3850/4850, both are quicker & use a lot less power. if Nvidia a 9600 series

8800GTX 2nd hand! Pretty sure those can be modded to pro cards. I also thought that the 2900 stuff could be modded to the pro cards very easily, and was actually a very good performer for 3D work?

lol

nothing wrong with the 2900. work perfectly for me as i don't use AA. and now i have a new cooler on it it's quiet. only 1 down fall is the power it uses..

You dont use AA yes but most people do use and need AA, it was garbage, I wasent too keen on it without AA too, GT blown it away and this 4870 compared to a 2900XT is like X800XTPE compared to 8800GTS 640.

i understand that and i agree. ive said the 2900 isn't good for AA. theres some people that won't buy latest cards just because they are better. for me i like to keep the card untill a game is very unplayable .... some people haven't got £150+ to spend every 7-8months on a new card. well i know i haven't

I havent, lukily I am living at home and I got bored easilly so thought I'd get a new toy to play with allthough my system will be staying the same now untill this time next year unless I get a good paid job.
