my mrs is at home and seems to think the speakers are broken (had them for ages now anyway)

if they are, i'm looking to replace them for about £150-180

any suggestions?

5.1 films is most important, but i listen to music on them too (and the odd game)

needs..
optical / coax / 6ch if poss

i loved the thread from your sig :)

"dad my gfx card won't go in"

"stand back son"

may well get another set, is a £180 hi-fi set better though?

The only reciever based 5.1 setup thats close to your budget would be:

Yamaha - AV Package 61: Yamaha RXV361 Reciver + Yamaha NSP110 Speakers.
A quick froogle should find some results; but I dont have any experience as to whether this is a good package or no.

If your serious; then I suggest popping into your local hifi specialist, and having a listen to some budget systems :)

If you were happy with the Z5500, get another one really. How long you had them for? Tried RMA with logitech? Apparently they offer sets at a reduced price if you are out of warranty too.

if its out of warranty they offer you 35% of any products from there online shop

Just a quick suggestion..

How about a second hand av amp @£100 which would do all that you wanted and a nice pair of speakers @£80 to start with (keeps you in budget) then add the rest of the speakers when you can afford it.

Thats what I did and never looked back.

Cheers
