replaceing 6800 with x1800xt?

Probably depends a lot on what resolutions you're looking to play at. I have the same card as you (fully unlocked and clocked very high) and I only play at 1024x768 4XAA due to the limitations of my CRT monitor, and Oblivion is the only game I've played that makes it struggle. It would be nice to have more than 128MB VRAM to use the higher res textures the latest games support, but really I'm in no rush to upgrade as 99.9% of games fly at the res I play at. If I wanted to play at 1600x1200 it would be a different story of course...
 
its the vram thats hurting me the most. having to turn down texture detail is the worst thing to do. high quality textures make or break a game.

The X1800XT is a beast, I upgrade from an X800Pro @ 16 pipes to one and its amazing to run BF2 at 1280x1024 every maxed 6xAA 16xAF with 50-60FPS min :D

The 7900GT is an awesome card too though, better drivers imho.
