Hi

My 5 year old Bebox recently failed and I was sent a Technicolor replacement. The problems listed below meant that I was sent a replacement Technicolor within a week. The replacement has the same problems. It is driving me crazy. 5 years of problem free service have now been followed by:

- wired connections not being able to connect to the internet (while wireless devices work). They are connected tot he network though. If i go into ipconfig they can see the modem and have an IP.
- some appliances having wirless internet access whilst others do not (they are conencted to wifi).
- a power off/on not resolving the issues, only logging into modem and restarting through software works. this means running around house trying to find a device that can connect to modem (whether wired or not).

FYI my set up is an ethernet going through a switch to the modem.

What the *Fully star out swear words* is going wrong?

Be support have not been able to help.

Are there any cheap (under £40) replacement boxes I could buy. I dont want to buy a £100 replacement.

had no issues with mine. when i swapped it out a few months a go.

Have you tried unplugging the switch and running straight off the modem?
also have you tried static local IP's?
what dns settings are you using? try other dns servers.
can you ping out as well as resolve DNS?
do you loose local traffic when you cant get Internet access?

thats where i would start with my trouble shooting.

I use a Netgear DG834GT off the bay instead of my BeBox. Cheap and cheerful (though no wireless N on that model).

Should cost you about £20

Best advice.

Assuming the BeBox does wireless N you can always turn off DHCP on it and then connect it to the GT to use as an AP.

Sorry guys. This was me being a fool.

I checked all my PC's last night and found out that I had manually assigned an IP to one of them. Removing that solved everything.

What...an...idiot
