Replacement for a G5

Logitech are giving me 50% off a new mouse, awesome!

I am thinking the G500 but is the G700 any good? I have always avoided wireless mice as I thought that they had some lag or something :p.

EDIT: I want the G500 but it massively overpriced on their website so not saving much.

i got a G700, too many buttons and in the wrong place imo. But thanks to Logitech's incredible service I have a G500 in the mail as a replacement to my G5 that has a slight wear in the cable braiding, and i get to keep my G5 (i'll send the G5 to anyone if they want it free of charge btw).

I'll have it if the other fella doesn't?

I only have a cheap basic mouse, so would love one that I could game with, I could even help with the postage costs or beer money? :D

ok as soon as the G500 arrives I'll offer to DefiantAsh first and then Space Monkey although I cant seem to find any way to pm for your addresses. I dont want any money for postage, it shouldnt be more than £2.00 anyway.

Thanks, appreciated :)

Lets hope DefiantAsh has a change of heart :(

Cheers rev, subscribed to thread so should be able to keep you guys updated and reply to anything if you require a small payment to cover postage. :)

My G5 cable braiding went all fluffy and has broken in places.

if its still under the 3 year warranty then give Logitech an email.

Nahh its 5 years old (the cable braiding was damaged years ago though)/
Tbh the braiding on the cable is so insignificant that I didn't bother looking into it - Although i have only recently found out about Logitech's customer service.

They have offered me 50% off a new mouse off their website. Very nice, but their website is significantly more expensive than OCUK so I am tempted to get one from OCUK.

My G5 had coffee spilled on it ( Spilt / Spilled? ) and in order to open it up, it meant that I had to kill off the glide pads.

I bought myself a set of replacement pads and it was the best thing I have ever done.

I opened the mouse, it was caked is sticky half dried coffee, but I cleaned it up and the new glide things were better than stock.

It was about 3 years ago and I have just doen teh same not more than 4 or 5 months ago again and the package of replacement pads had 2 sets so I was lucky there.

I have since bought a new set, but not only for the G5, but also the Mx700 and my MS WebScroll Eye and thats about 5000 years old and still perfect.

So which mouse should I get? :)

G500
G9x
G700

I have a fancy x6 keyboard with lots of macro buttons on that I have NEVER used!

The DPI changer buttons are good on the G5, I like those for BF2 and BC2.

I do get worried that with everyone saying how good Logitech's customer service is, that certain idiots are going to take advantage of it and get the customer service nuked down in helpfulness.

I have gone past the ridiculousness of keyboards now.
Im sick to the stomach of spending a small fortune on a keyboard only for it to look nice and yet be a pile of cack

Give me a 20 year old IBM PS2 Keyboard any day over the junk that seem to be coming out these days.

G500

G700

I would personally choose the G500 because its design will be familiar to you (as you had G5 before) and its a good mouse overall judging from reviews and my research few months back.

G9x might be uncomfortable for you, its designed for people using claw grip but if you are using claw grip go for it.

I don't know about the G700 but I wouldn't consider it myself as it is wireless and I avoid wireless mouses like the plague.

Im currently using the mx518 and apart from the small scroll wheel I find it a very good mouse.

although i like the G500 buttons better than the G700 i like the feel of G700 in my hands much more than G500. BTW my G500 has arrived so I'll stick to my offer of the G5 free to the guys, email me if u are still interested DefiantAsh and Space Monkey (email is in my trust).

Sent email via Trust. :)

I am temped by the wireless one, simply because the G500 is expensive on their website (so 50% off doesn't save a lot compared to other etailers) and 50% off the G700 is a huge amount.

I fully understand your concerns about the G700 being wireless, but at £80-90 and classed as a gaming mouse it can't be pants surely?! :p

assuming u get on with the button layout and shape i cant see why u wouldnt like the G700 personally, after all its wired and wireless so best of both worlds.
