my Gfs laptop is a bit sloooooww....

I use my XPS most of the time at hers.... but sometimes I use hers and it drives me nuts...

its a Toshiba Satellite Pro A40

celeron.
256 mb ram
30 gb drive....

am looking at some more memory.....

could i put a 7200rpm drive in there do you think ?
I assume it has the slowest drive in there... not even 5400rpm drive?

surely this and the ram would make it a little more bareable for her..... and me if I ever pick it up again ;)

Even a decent 5,400RPM HDD should shown an improvement, because chances are it's using a 4,500RPM drive currently. Coupled with the fact that hard-drives are always getting quicker anyway through various other advances, a 5,400RPM drive is probably a good bet.

Of course, you'll see better performance still from a 7,200 drive, just not sure it's worth it when the system is a Celeron with 256MB of RAM. A RAM upgrade would definitely improve things.
