Replacement Headunit for Mk4 Mondeo

Eonon GA5162 - Installed and video

Hi Guys,
In case your interested I just installed a GA5162 from Eonon. Brought through the UK site and it took 2 days to get here.

Its the Android unit as I thought I could do a lot more with that one as I like to play with these things a lot.

Here a link to my overview video.
happy to answer any questions.

Great video, I'm interested in buying this unit, any idea what options are available for SatNav if you want to use it completely offline ? AFAIK it doesn't come with any GPS software pre-loaded so would need to get some (ideally from the Android store). What options have you tried ?

Using Navfree for offline maps now and Waze for online. The only thing to be aware of is some apps show as not compatible in the store. So as long as there free you can grab the apk file and install it.

Did this for navfree and Waze. Both work just fine.

How are you guys finding these a few months in? I'm possibly going to be getting an old mk3 mondeo, but couldn't live without a2dp/bluetooth/nav, so looking at these eonon units...though of course a generic double din rather than requiring a specific fit like above.

Mine's fine, but if you like the radio or loud music you're probably better off getting something else. However for my Ipod/Sat-Nav/Blue-tooth/Rear camera use it's perfect.

From what Snips86x mentioned there's not much bass when the volume is turned up so if you like very bassy music then I'd avoid this stereo. My iPod is full of rock music and it sound OK to me.

Damn it I was really geared up for getting one of these Eonon units and numberplate light reversing cam for my 2008 Focus but the drop in audio quality compared to the stock sony would bug me to no end, being that audio is it's primary purpose!
snips86x: did you ever try the Eonon again?
ianh: a@a??

Holy thread bump batman!

Just bought a 2010 Mk4 Mondeo as a stop gap but the stereo isn't working, thinking of chopping it out and sticking in something after market.

Does anyone know how easy of a job it is, and if a kit like the follow has everything i'd need?
