Replacement pump recommendations.

Bought one of the d5/ek 140 res not long ago.

Does appear to be well built :) but due to ek sending screws(those to be used to attach block/res. to case) that are too small:( have not yet had chance to install and try.

It is a replacement for the x20 I am currently running .(needed more power , as I'm adding extra gpu and rad to the loop and the x20 is noisy :( )

Funny enough I got my ek d5 x140 res today and had the same problem with screws as they were to small but luckily i had some spare so managed to get it fitted and I must say I'm really impressed.
 
I love my koolance PMP 500, I have had 2 D5's die on me in the last month, so i decided to try something away from the norm. It is one, if not the most powerful pump on the market, and comes with a sexy heatsink built onto the casing. Plus it is quite small even compared to the D5.

The only downside is it is not variable, and for me it is the loudest thing in my rig, but after 2 pumps dyeing, I like to hear that it is doing it's job.

 
is pump failure a frequent thing? just working ahead for my next build and my pc normaly lives on 24/7 so trying to decide if waters a good idea or not

What's it like in use?

Noisy/quiet?

What speed you running at?

Any hints on setting up etc ? :)

Have not been able to move mine forward yet - I'm waiting for ocuk for the screws ,who are themselves waiting for EK:(

IMO if you want piece of mind go with air cooling :)

Pumps do , as all components do , fail from time to time - it can be just a little more damaging :(

Well I installed it Tuesday and It is very quiet I'm just running on setting 2 as that's all I need as I'm cooling cpu only.

I can set my PC to shut down if pump fails also get a audible warning as well.

If he wants he could fit a EK DCP 2.2 Pump (12v) in series behind the main pump so he still has circulation so as not to damage components due to heat and give him time to shut down properly.

Note:EK DCP 2.2 Pump (12v) might not pump enough water round to give good temps depending on his loop.
