Yea I was thinking that as well, it could be a private plate but I ruled that out as it has so many numbers?

Mine:

Didn't want a border or EU flag, and fancied having domed letters and numbers, so got them.

Did you not fancy having it a different colour and stuff as well? If you are going to ignore the plate laws you might as well go the whole hog?

The letters are the correct dimensions, and BS and manufacturer marked, so legal

I like the Halfords plates - clean is definitely the best option but at £30 a pair, they are rather expensive.

I use fancyplates.com now.

£30 a pair is what BMW charged me so I'd much rather a dealer name on them than Halfords, even if that particular branch print discreet branding like Paradigm's did

I use fancyplates.com, don't need documents or anything like that! Got a legit pair from them that have the BSAU stuff in the corner. Also from them I got a small front one - the normal 520mm wide but only 90mm high (fits the recess of my 182 perfectly), and thus the font size is reduced. I would say that I haven't had any trouble from the Plod... but I've only had it on a week!

I was starting to worry about my plates been raised. However i'm now concerned the carbon gel one's which i have on my car may not be legal?! Even though the website i purchased them from states they are UK road legal.

'Plates for cars' are an interesting outlet. They're based in Dublin, and no such company seems to be registered with the DVLA to supply number plates. On their 'about us' page the picture of 'the team' is a stock image used on hundreds of other websites, and the picture of their 'offices' is a photo of a hotel in Dublin.

I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw their plates!

Cheers for your detective work :/ Already purchased the plates and have them on my car. Iv noticed the police rubber necking at the car on a couple of occasions. I'll keep the plate receipt in the car and claim ignorance.

Which completely sucks, I agree, but you are now supplying illegal plates.

Hence my car being fitted with a nice BMW branded rear plate with dealer URL yet a plan front plate with simply the dealer name, all thats allowed by law now, after somebody cracked the front plate AFTER the law changed

I know we bend the rules very slightly, a lot of dealers do!

The plates from the eBay link I posted earlier arrived this morning (so 24hr turnaround), happy with the quality, absolutely no different to the ones printed by the dealer.

For £7.99 can't complain at all. Now to get some 3M double sticky pads....

'No different'?

Last time I checked the dealer plates simply had 'Sytner Maidenhead' or whatever on instead of 'Flashplates Limited'. Looks super tacky but I guess if you are not into details it wont matter.
