Didn't want a border or EU flag, and fancied having domed letters and numbers, so got them.

I got mine on eBay, £8 for a legal pair.
I am still debating what to do about a replacement
3D fonts like the one Mucky_Pup has are perfectly legal. Provided the plates meet the rest of the requirements (character size, spacing, font, reflectivity, supplier details, British Standard mark, etc.) there is no problem at all with plain black 3D fonts.
I have pressed metal plates on my car, meaning the letters are raised off the surface of the plate in a similar manner. The plates meet all the requirements, have all the required markings, etc. and are fully legal

All lettering has to be plain black, whether raised or not, so I'm afraid the carbon effect isn't legal.
'Plates for cars' are an interesting outlet. They're based in Dublin, and no such company seems to be registered with the DVLA to supply number plates. On their 'about us' page the picture of 'the team' is a stock image used on hundreds of other websites, and the picture of their 'offices' is a photo of a hotel in Dublin.
I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw their plates!![]()
Can you share a linkI am still debating what to do about a replacement

Which completely sucks, I agree, but you are now supplying illegal plates.
Hence my car being fitted with a nice BMW branded rear plate with dealer URL yet a plan front plate with simply the dealer name, all thats allowed by law now, after somebody cracked the front plate AFTER the law changed![]()
Looks like I'll need some soon myself. The plates from the eBay link I posted earlier arrived this morning (so 24hr turnaround), happy with the quality, absolutely no different to the ones printed by the dealer.
Good news, For that price they are a bargain and do look all right. Let us know where you buy any of that sticky stuff fromLooks like I'll need some soon myself.
