Hi,

I bought my dad an LED torch for Christmas which then broke in February. I got the torch from Amazon but it was supplied by another company.

I originally had this item delivered to my work address, but have since moved on to work for a new employer. When I packaged the torch I put my home address on the RMA form thinking it would be sent there as there was no mention of it being sent to the original delivery address. Well you can guess what happened next, the replacement torch was sent to my old work address which is a hour drive each way away and I cant get a day off work from my new job for the first three months (which would be June) to go and collect it.

What comeback do I have with the original seller? I phoned the company who were very sympathetic but said there was nothing they could do. They suggested that my old company should just hold on to it or forward in onto me. Is this right? I don't really think its acceptable that I should need to negotiate with my old boss to get hold of my goods. Is there any point contacting Amazon directly?

unless you have been stealing stuff from your old company why would they steal your item? jstu ask them for it..

I always assumed that returned address on the back was if it went missing, they would have just opened it when it got returned without looking at the back, no use now but Email instructions in future :p
I would just get your old work to forward it on, worth kicking up a fuss for a few pounds?

Well the thing is that the post office is a car journey away and I cant expect the HR girl to use up her lunch break going to the post office to resend me a parcel. When work sends out parcels DHL or whoever comes around to collect them.

I looked into http://www.interlinkdirect.co.uk/ who will pick up the parcel and redeliver it for £13.99, but as the torch cost £35 I'm not sure they will pick up the bill.

if its a big company it could easily get lost...

its likley to be stuck under someone's desk / on a shelf waiting for the unknow person to come and claim it...

It's on the HR girl's desk, she emailled me about it today. The problem is that I have no way of getting it as they can't just pop into the post office to resend it and it would be a 2 hour drive from my new job and I cant take time off in the first three months.

I cant see why this is my problem as I did put my home address on the RMA form

It is a lot of companies policy to return to the original senders address.

Don't they ever get stuff delivered? Surely you can just ask them to pop it in when they are due to go down there anyway.

Failing that I'm sure you could achieve a much cheaper pickup using www.parcel2go.co.uk or something similar.

Why not arrange for a friend/family member to collect it on your behalf? retailers always send out any replacements to the original invoice address.

You can't really blame the company as your original (work) address would have already gone into their system and most rma's these days are automated.

I'm sure if you sent a SAE and asked nicely someone at your old work will pop it into the post office in their own time when out of work, did you not make ANY friends at your old job?????

surely you have a friend in the company or someone who can do you a solid? why kick up a stink and make the company sell on Amazon lose money because you cant be arsed to get on the phone............

"hey Joe Bloggs, how's tricks? , any chance you can fwd a package onto me, there has been a mix up"
