Hi all,

My car went into the dealer for some warranty work and they have identified a small cut in my rear offside tyre (about 4mm) in the middle tread section. Apparently this tyre is also older than the other 3, though all 4 match with Continental Sport Contact 5s.

Am I fine replacing the single tyre on it's own with another Continental Sport Contact 5? Dealer has measured the inner, middle and outer depths of the other rear tyre to be 6.7, 7.7, 6.7mm, so the other tyre must be reasonably new. Car is an Octavia VRS so FWD if that makes any difference.

Thanks

No issue with this, as the remaining tyre has plenty of tread. If there was more of a difference then generally you should replace the pair (or keep the remaining one as a spare if you have another wheel etc)

Thought that would be the case, cheers guys! Just need to try and find somewhere that can fit me one before Xmas now. Event Tyres look a good option; £5 more expensive than blackcircles, but can come to me at work and fit. Has anyone used them before?

Unfortunately their nearest fitting centre is 8 miles from work and 5 miles from home, and neither can do fitting before 28th. Going with Event Tyres for mobile fitting tomorrow; was only £8 more than Asda Tyres.

Cheers for the help!

I always use event tyres, not the cheapest but not far off and totally worth it for the convenience.

I always use Tyreleader.

e; Sorry, didn't see that you want fitting too... I usually get a local part worn place to fit mine. (not supply)

Thanks for the suggestions all. Went with Event Tyres due to needing it asap, whereas most places could only fit after xmas. Have to say the service was spot on and I'd happily use again.
