Replacing a power supply fan ?

never done it but i can't see it being hard, one thing i would suggest is that you leave it powered off for a couple of hours before you start, let the capacitors discharge as they will give you a nasty belt if there full.

It will void your warranty and check what size fan is in it, some are funny sizes eg mine is 135mm. Fan connectors may also be different. Perhaps be prepared for a little modding to make things work but I don't think it would be too hard

Maybe first try removing the fan guard - Sometimes the fan blades can catch the guard causing the noise.

Yeah im going to try that guys, I need to get my allen keys out to open the thing though.

The warranty is already void guys so its not an issue, the psu itself is fine its just the fan that needs sorting so going to see if its just a simple case of fan rubbing against psu fan guard or psu itself if not ill try oil the bearings or something if not that then ill just replace the fan I guess cant be to hard.

Just wanted to know if anyones tried it.

Will need a bit of wire splicing or soldering unless you want to try and source the correct plug. Easily done though. Watch out for the big power caps, do not touch the underside of the board unless you are sure they are discharged.

I dont think it would be too hard. I cant say for sure if all PSU's are the same, but i ninja'd the fans out of 3 dead PSU's before i threw them away, and all three fans had standard three pin plugs. So it should be as easy as taking the psu casing off, and simply fitting the new fan IMHO.
