Replacing case fans

I'm currently running an Antec 300 case with Tricool fans all round. My issue is I have them all running at medium to have half decent airflow, because at low its pants tbh!
The noise, however, has started doing my head in, and I want to get rid. My mate is building himself a rig atm and said he would buy them off me, so it isnt money wasted.

Basically, I need 3 120mm fans and 1 140mm fan with 140mm fittings, not one of those 'fake' 140mm ones! They'll most likely be hooked up to a fan controller too, but I want something that wouldn't be too loud even at high speeds.

From my very limited fan knowledge, I was thinking the Scythe Gentle Typhoon 1450rpm might be a good shot? Can pick them up for roughly £10. The 140mm, however, I'm at a loss as to where I'm going

The GTs are a good fan with a less obtrusive noise signature. They are used a lot on Radiators so push through obstacles well. I'm unsure of their merit as a case fan though.

There aren't many 140mm available, or at least not on OCuk.

What about the Sharkoon or the Fractal in the 140mm? Unless you want faster running as they are both of the slower spinning variety.

And you are right about the Tri-cools on Medium, I have one on Low and it is too noisy. The other is on a fan controller and spinning very slow.

Tempted to go for either the Sharkoon 800rpm or Yate Loon 1000rpm. Anyone got any advice on which?

Also, Gentle Typhoon vs Slipstream for the 120mm? Or again, YL, Asaka etc

I never realised how many bloody fans there were!

I'd get the yate loons over the sharkoon golfball fans, although I'd stretch to getting the gentle typhoons if I were you, at whatever speed you're going for - they have 1150rpm or 800rpm models.

+1 for yate loons, theres nothing wrong with the sharkoons per se, excellent fans in fact, however yates are a lot cheaper and will do just as well, ive used both, currently have 4 yate loons in my case, 2 x 120mm, 2 x 140mm, cost about £4-5.00 each.

I'm leaning towards getting yate's all round now

£50 with a fan controller too, not a bad price considering the GT's are £11 each

One final question I have to ask. Does anyone know how the yates, typhoons and fractal fans sound when slowed down? I hear a lot about silent fans buzzing a lot at slower speeds

The 4 yates i have are all 1500 rpm , 2 x 120mm, 2 x 140mm, run them on a zalman zm mfc1 plus fan controller, dialled down to lowest setting produces no buzzing sound at all. They are loud at full speed but i rarely run them at full.
