Hi, I have two F1 Spinpoint drives in my system at the moment and I like them but I'm going to RAID them in my kids PC to boost its speed. I want to put two need drives in my system (SATAII) and I'm thinking about the below:

Western Digital Caviar Green 1TB SATA-II 64MB Cache - OEM (WD10EARS) [WD10EARS]

My only concern with Green drives are that they run at less speed 5400RPM to reduce heat but is the performance as good? If not then what do you recommend.

I'm adding the below as a backup drive for the two RAID 1Tb drives:

Western Digital Caviar Green 2TB SATA-II 64MB Cache - OEM (WD20EARS) [WD20EARS]

Thanks In Advance.

The 1TB and the 500Gb the same speed? I am not sure how much differnace the extra cache would make in the 1TB ?

Looking for the same as the OP but I plan to raid 0 and 2TB is way over what I need so looking at the 500GB if they are just as fast?

Thanks

moleh

I'd go with samsung f3 or western digital blacks if I wanted the 5 year warranty.

Same speed, cache makes no difference.
