hey guys
whats the best way to simply clone over an os (win7) drive to a new ssd?

its a work pc and don't want to install everything new

thanks - there is a guide on howtogeek and it uses easeUS partition manager that i have found.
It certainly 'sounds' relatively easy, but any extra advice is welcome.
I'll check out that Macrium, thanks.

Belongs your data does not exceed the new drive you be fine.

What software does the shrinking of partition though? I have a problematic win 10 install. Windows wont shrink the volume enough (although the used space is tiny) and GPARTED which I'd usually use can't edit the volume for some reason.

Any other suggestions for reducing a partitions size before/during cloning?

If you get a Samsung Evo the software that comes with those will clone it over also.

I've had 0 issues with that on 10 + clones.

Hi its actually symantec backup exec system recovery. I used for the servers when I was an it manager. I also use it at home. It's backup of your os drive on the fly. You can set it to daily, weekly etc and can also define the number of times a day. I just set mine to 7pm each day. You set it to do one full backup and then incremental. I backup to a nas. If my os goes a wall I simply insert the recovery cd, boot to that, setup the iPhone settings and then point the recovery to the cactus on the nas. It usually takes about half an hour to restore you os, apps etc. It's also good if you buy a new drive. Saves hours installing os, apps, settings etc.

I think veritas now own but but torrents are the best way to get it
