Hi,
Trying to help a friend replace the knackered sony headunit in her 96 VW Polo, got a Sony CD Tuner lying around that I was gonna throw in, but to be honest I know probably little more than she does about it.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a guide or tutorial on the net, i've googled, but can't find one. I've got a set of Sony release keys somewhere, but cant find them.

Cheers
Mark

Release keys can be had from halfords mate..

You wont need a facia adaptor (its same dash as my ibiza)

take the older head unit out.. and remove the metal cage it was cliped into.. replace this with the new cage.

now look at the wires.. its likey that it aint been done using a iso connector... and you will have a mass of wires there..

i could talk you thought it if needed.. as its easy if you have to splice them..

if it has got a iso connector in there.. then its a simple case of unplug old one.. and plug new one in.

if its all intact and wires look like that have never been cut before... but the plug id different to the one on the back of the new head unit.. you can pick up a iso connector from halfords again.. also check the aerial fits into new unit if not.. you can get adaptor for that also.

go take alook for her mate

if you need to splice them..

msn is [email protected]

my old '93 CL Golf did not need an ISO as the original wireing terminated with a black and a brown connection blocks(basicaly an ISO split in two) which fitted straight into the back of my new headunits (JVC and later a Pioneer),The only problem you may find is that the headunit fails to store radio stations, if so check out to see if you can swap over the red and yellow wires from the headunit(they should be bullet type fittings)

Most ICE shops (NOT HALFORDS) will remove the HU free of charge, as they are linked with the police. No need to buy keys.
