Thought I'd replace my trusty old m4 128gb with an evo 850 250gb as my girlfriends laptop is in desperate need of an ssd and I plan to put the m4 in that. Was just wondering will I notice much real world difference?

nope, none at all, apart from having more space

not for general use you will not, what do you use your PC for?

the read and write speeds maybe faster but once the ssd gets to a certain speed you will not notice anything above unless moving large files or doing video editing etc

I had 2 x 840 evos in raid and for general use I couldn't tell any difference in game loads and OS loading so went back to single drives

General use really and playing a few games.

Mainly bought the evo as 250gb drives are so cheap now. I remember paying £160 for my old 128gb m4. It's been a great drive though.

I just plumped for a BX100 250 GB since it's on offer today (obliterates OcUK's offer price, sadly). Not even sure if I'll see a difference compared to my Vertex 2, even though that's one of the old compressing controllers. Still, I could use the extra space and have another use for the Vertex 2 so I'm happy even if there's no noticeable performance difference.

the 850 evo can be picked up for quite a good price now as I have recently brought one.

are you using sata 2 or 3?
