Hey,

I have an alienware from about 3 years ago and the PSU died so I bought the corsair HX850, however it's a lot smaller than the one that came with the computer.

The case has a little shelf running along the side which the old PSU sat on, and another shelf opposite it, to hold the other side up, just at the back though.

the new PSU doesnt reach this, (it's about 1 CM too short) and is curentlly being help in place by 3 screws which hold it's entire wieght.

the PSU is on the top of the case so if it falls it will land on everything else

what can I safely use to bride the gap between the little shelf and the CPU? (Would blu -tac work)

I doubt if blutack would help too much as it won't bear much weight. Is the PSU unsteady?

I suppose you could strap it up with something but you would need to fashion some attachments in the case to do this.

You could also use a strip of metal and bond it to the existing support to act as an extension. I hear liquid metal is very good, or maybe some metal type epoxy stuff.

You could try 'No More Nails' sticky pads. They are various versions, but the permanent ones (red colour) can hold up to 30KG!!
