I would like to replace my old BT Hub with a decent modem. I already use an Asus N66U behind my firewall for internal wireless. What I need is just an ASDL modem with no wireless. Would something like an Asus DSL-X11 be any good? Not sure if I should as BT probably wont support using a 3rd party modem.

I have had great success with the non wireless Netgear DG834v4 (the v stable broadcom chipped router) in bridge mode - this effectively turns it into a modem. I connect the DG834 to the WAN port on whatever router I'm using - usually Drayteks, but your Asus N66 has a WAN port so should be fine. I then let the Draytek do the authentication over PPPoE -yes this will work for bog standard ADSL connections.

I've also done the same with the old BT 2wire 2700hgv provided with BT Business Broadband connections - they are cheap on ebay. This 2700 has a good reputation on very long or poor quality lines and I've used it to good effect in clients that have the equivalent of piece of wet string as their connection.

The DG834 is very easy to put into bridge mode, the 2700 requires a lot more fiddling.

Failing that, yes the Draytek 120 suggested by bledd will be fine also.
