Replaying COD2 on veteran to get all the achievments - forgot what a fantastic game it is, lovely graphics (on HD), great plot/script, and excellent game play.

Done the first 2 missions on the Russian front, now I'm stuck on the bit where we're holed up in a building with the Germans coming over open ground with MG42s and a halftrack. Doing my head in, they are so fast and accurate and it takes a good few shots from my mg to kill them, keep getting swarmed on the first floor, the AI teammates just keep firing out the windows and ignoring the Germans chasing me!

Going to try and get the achievments on this and COD3 before I play COD4 which I'm getting for Xmas.

Great FPS series! :D
 
I gave up doing COD3 on Veteran - got more than half way through it but then realized I had selected the first level and chose the difficulty. I think you had to in fact create a new game so I would have been mighty ****** off when I realized I didn't get the achievement :) Might be worth getting COD2 at some point?
 
Harder in my opinion. Veteran on COD4 was hard, don't get me wrong, but since it's uber short, the longetivity of COD2 wins out for me/

Lol thats a tough mission
im up to dday on veteran - dont really get much time to play my 360 but COD2 is prolly my fave game and on veteran its so much more enjoyable, if incredibly challenging

i nearly wept when i finished the british level in tunisia or libyia when you are holed up in a room with germans raking the building with bullets for about 10 minutes

and the ambush level... oh god :eek: it still gives me nightmares - how i got through that i'll never know...

smoke grenades are your friends on veteran :D

ive got cod4 for xmas and hope the single player is every bit as good as cod2

PS im not sure which level you are stuck on but if its the russian one around the time you get the sniper rifle then leave the mg when you can and move from left to right to cover the germans coming through the ground floor windows and up the stairs, even venture downstairs as they swarm and shoot them as they come through windows or lob grenades down the stairs
 
That's the level alright! Yeah I meant the SMG rather than MG sorry - I don't even bother getting on the MG by the window they are so accurate outside. I try and stay at the top of the stairs either side but while I'm dealing with those coming up I get shot from behind because the AI teammates let the enemy run behind them!
 
I have to say though it would be awesome to say you have completed the 3 that are playable on the 360 on veteran and have the achievements to prove it. I might have to attempt them when I run out of games this year :p Before I stopped on Cod 3 I as so close to exploding with rage though - especially on my poor controller (its served me well)
