Replaying games with new graphics card?

Heh, I played crysis on my Ti4400 and then on a 5800ultra which I upgraded to at the time. The game certainly looked better but I just couldn't hear anything due to the hoover they attached to the HSF. ;)
 
Even Dawn Of War is so immensely better on a new PC.

Done it on the trial of Wrath of The Lich King, and even on maxed out I'm struggling to see the claims of greatly improved graphics I've read everywhere.
 
I did this, i was stuck with a *GEFORCE 4 mx 440!!!!* for about 3 years beacuse i couldnt afford a new card, used to play CSS, HL2, Dawn of War, Far Cry, and even COD2, all ran fine at lowest settings, this was at 800x600 and 1024x768. Then i bought a PC with a 8800GTS in it about a year and a half ago, you should have seen the difference coming from that :p
 
I can't wait to get my new machine and replay Company of Heroes and CoD4...all the other games i'm dying to play (Crysis, Far Cry 2, STALKER) I just haven't bothered with on this comp.

OH! BOILING POINT! I need to play that game on a decent machine, it was beyond good.
 
A certain store I'll bet you'll know which one a few years ago told me a PC of their's that had a GEFORCE 4 mx 440 installed was a great gaming PC. lol
 
Sometimes the reverse is the case...

A few years back I remember being urged to replace my 3Dfx Voodoo 2 card with one of the early Geforce cards as the "Rolls Royce" of graphics.

First game I loaded up was Longbow 2, instant disappointment when gone were the lovely smoothed terrain textures and missile trails to be replaced by a patchwork quilt of square tiles and smoke trails that looked like something off an Amiga.

My last upgrade was from a 7600GT to 8800GT about 9 months ago and I made a point of replaying Crysis and GTA SA, definitely appreciated the difference. However some of the older stuff like Freelancer didn't really show any improvement - guess a 7600 could already max out what the game had to offer.
 
Graphics don't realy matter much to me when it comes to replay value, but oblivion was one of the games i felt that when i did upgrade my pc, it deserved to have another shot with me, because it was quite a bit of a let down when i first played it only to find i had to have the graphics far worse then morrowind to get a playable framerate. When i did get my new rig though, i did install oblivion to try it again and it was much more enjoyable with max settings.

I don't think i had any other games that would have made much difference in gameplay/fun when running them on max settings instead of low settings.
