Hasn't the same thing been said just before each GTC and look what has happened at the last few.:)

This is always the case just before GTC... they'll release something, this is their biggest event to release a new generation of cards they're not going to miss the opportunity.

Could go either way IMO. Unlike other GTC events, Cards are currently priced more expensive then they were when they launched. Even with increased bill of material costs thanks to RAM increase, they are still likely making more money now, at least the AIB's. Cards are flying off the shelves for all but the most over priced ones and Nvidia have high end firmly tied up. At least with Maxwell, the Fury X was mid way between mid range and high end, here the competition is more on par with mid range and nothing on the horizon.

IMO Nvidia does not need a big event to launch these cards. They could launch them whenever they feel like and they will sell in droves and news will spread like wildfire either way.

Actually no, before Pascal was released, there was loads of rumours about the specs of Pascal and their were leaks of shipments etc and all the rumours pointed to the cards been announced at GTC.

I wouldn't be surprised if they're quite happy to sit back and wait for a while. They're selling every chip they can make already with a mature architecture. There's really not much reason to release anything new, given that sales literally couldn't increase from what they are right now. Unless they're worried about the state of the PC gaming industry in general and want to try and "save" it with a dedicated mining architecture, which would potentially allow them to try and block mining on their gaming cards either at a hardware or software level, letting them have sales from both markets without them affecting each other.

They will not miss the opportunity to **** on the Ryzen 2 launch! I am sure. lol inded :D

Why would they want to do that?

AMD CPUs/motherboards can run NVidia GPUs.

NVidia don't make CPUs for the PC so there is no point in damaging the market for AMD CPUs.

At the moment they haven't announced anything or even talked about it.
I can see an absolute coup happening in the near future, NVIDIA CPU'S after some sneaky deal with some other CPU company for any IP they need (yes there are still a few others out there).
You heard it here first, whwn it shows up on one of the numerous click bait, we will print every rumour, that way at a least one of them will be right sites.:p:D:p;)

They need more time to sabotage their drivers for their own EOL GPUs and purposefully introduce just enough performance hitches and subtle frame drops for AMD CPUs that it isn't too obvious.

lol, what a roller coaster.

Clickbait roller coaster.

Wouldn't blame them cashing in a little and waiting for Computex in June before launching (with an immediate availability).

This is just as likely as GTC announcement, if not more credible. If it's not GTC it will be later in the year

Haven’t they stopped manufacturing on the current gen though? Surely if so they see no inflated profits anyway so would make sense to get their new cards out.

Not sure if that was fact or opinion. Usually they sell old stock alongside new, ie 980 Ti's were still being sold when 1080/1070's hit the market athough maybe that was old stock. Not sure NV have much old stock at the moment so would be surprised if they aren't still manufacturing, at least some GPU's that aren't going to be superseded soon.

Thing is too, no matter how good the current range is doing, NV know there's a huge more profit to be made from new cards. Pascal is heading towards being 2 years old now, there will come a point where sales are dropping off, if not already. Even miners probably also care about what's around the corner, ie, same or greater hash rates & lower power usage = worth waiting now.

Who here owns a Pascal card but will buy the next gen.......that's probably 75% of hands in the air :p. I'm sure NV will give enough performance improvements and new features to ensure people trade up from last gen.
