Report Tailgater Button

Got pulled by the police the other month tailgating. They brake tested me but I didn't flinch.

I did back off once I saw the little blue lights in their unmarked C Class :o
 
btw this is more about the responsibility of the driver behind to keep a safe distance, it doesn't matter if the driver in front is doing something wrong or not.
 
I usually find that a light tap on the break pedal (just enough to make the light go on) is enough to deter most tailgaters. I'd say there are bigger problems on the road to tackle right now though.
 
its more fun to drop down a couple of gears to see if hes awake .... nothing wakes you up like the car in front suddenly slowing down with no brake lights coming on :D

To be honest sometimes I wish some cars would just move over into the grass verge and get out of my way.
 
We had the solution in the 70's called Redex - You could buy a pump fitting for the engine and half dozen pumps put out a huge impenetrable cloud of smoke.:D:D

I can't see it taking off. A straight to YouTube device though where you could bitch and moan about other road users while getting your ego massaged by 30 second updates of your subs and likes would sell by the bucket load.
 
Nope but it's within my power to make sure they're awake and aint likely to smash into the back of my car :p As above, there may not be the possibility to let them past.

Id say my point stands though....if someone was tailgating me on such a road I'd slow, indicate and move over to give them the opportunity to pass. Not worth the risk.

I wish more people in general would do this...the amount of times ive been stuck behind someone who must realise that they are holding up faster traffic (motorhomes, caravans, vans etc) who stubbornly refuse to help people pass is infuriating :p

I agree!!! the approx 15miles to my parents house over country roads usual sees me falling victim to slow drivers :( it's a mix of 40 and 60 but usually find people doing 30 just everywhere.... which is fine if they don't feel comfortable going faster but please recognise that others are comfortable going faster and pull over to let us pass!! :p slowest of all is the tractors, but most of them are great and either pull over or very on the ball to help you over take them :D (slowing a bit more, hugging the hedge, telling you to wait then calling you when they see it's clear...obviously pull out a have a nosey before just throttling past haha)

as for the parking sensors and picture.... lol :p can see a whole new wave of clips coming up on youtube now....slide shows of peoples "closest 'gaters" would need to be showing the cars speed and ideally the proximity output from the parking sensors to see how close the guy behind is. how ever..... dumb idea as can see lots of asshats trying to deliberately close the gap on the car behind for the sake of youtube "fame" :p

scooby with a straight pipe and flames sounds much better :D

You are just creating more risk - its so stupid. don't do it.

An emergency stop is one thing but forcing a situation just to show your displeasure with another driver is idiotic and dangerous.
 
If I’m on a single carriageway doing the speed limit and someone tailgates me you know what I do, I ignore them and carry on regardless. If they want to go faster than the speed limit then by all means overtake me.

I’m not going to jump out of their way or break test them because, well you know, it’s a retarded thing to do and will end up with someone wrapped around a tree.

Whist driving home today I had an idea, and you're welcome to steal it and develop it.

If someone is driving too close behind you, you press a "Get em" button.

Your car uses its parking sensor to measure the distance. Your car takes a photo of the number plate. Your car knows its own speed.

e.g. if I'm driving at 60mph and there's a car a foot behind me - it's perfectly reasonable that my car should automatically report them to the police.

Let's get 'em with the "Get 'em" button <3

If you are driving at 60, you should pull over to let the better, faster car, past (single lane or not :p )
