Around last christmas my mum bought this
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...tegory&cc=gb&dlc=en&lc=en&product=4104227#N68

And it was meant to be a suprise gaming pc but it kinda sucks. Now that i finally have some money i would like to upgrade the CPU and GPU i have about £300-£400 to spend. I only want ATI/AMD GPU's as i will also be using this computer for mining bitcoins. Can someone suggest a graphics card that will DEFINATELY fit in my tower, wont be bottlenecked by the rest of my cpu and will run MOST game at max settings on my 23" monitor. Could you also suggest a good CPU to buy preferably 3.2gh/z or more.

If you are also going to mention OC'ing then can you link me to some tools and tut's as i dont want to fry my new card.

checking that spec its got a 300w psu so i'd update that first.

have a look at the following, you could save a bit changing the 5850 to the ocuk 460 gtx.

Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5850 Extreme 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card **OcUK Exclusive** £134.99 (£112.49)

AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 955 Black Edition "125W Edition" 3.20GHz (Socket AM3) - Retail £83.99 (£69.99)

Antec High Current Gamer 620W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply £62.99
(£52.49)

BitFenix Shinobi Gaming Case - Black £49.99 (£41.66)

Sub Total : £276.63
Shipping : £11.75
VAT : £57.68
Total : £346.06

I believe the 6950 GPUs are long cards, so it may not fit in your current case.

MP260767 has listed some very good items, hard to beat really, when trying to stay in your budget.

The only change i would make, would be the gaming case. I would use the Antec 100 £44.99, there is also 1 in B grade for £31.16, (dont think it will be there long) :)

The choice of case is personal preference only.

Is it hard to transfer everything over to a new case as i've never done it before? or is it simple and i should just google/youtube it?

Hi james, iirc the pci slots are right at the bottom of the case and there's a nice big space from one end of the case to the other end where the card fits.
So on this basis you should be fine with any card in that case, but please do double check to be 100%
The 6950 tf3 is a awesome card and you wont regret getting it im sure.
You will however need a more powerful psu to run it so id recommend something like this

So to some it up if i were you id just get a new psu and g card and see how you feel once you have them two.
If you were to buy a new cpu for that board you wouldn't see much benefit from what you have so i would forget that idea.
In my opinion it wouldn't be worth changing the rest of the parts individually unless you was starting from scratch (which your not) and in that case id go for a sandy bridge upgrade.

I definitely wouldn't upgrade the CPU in that build, there's no need. The Athlon 640 x4 is rediculously good value for money, I have one in my computer at work and its more than capable of running all modern games, including silly things like Crysis.

IMO it won't be bottle necked by any single GPU graphics card available now.

If you ask me, money on that rig is essentially money down the drain, so I would just buy a cheap interim type graphics card for now and save up for a new build.

Personally, I would get one of these. Cheap, surprisingly powerful (I used to have the 4670 and it easily ran any console port I threw at it). It is powered solely by the PCIE slot, so no need to upgrade your PSU unless you start having issues with it.

My card is mainly for MMO's and the COD series, So will that card be able to play most if not all mmo's in max settings and would i be getting a lot better FPS throughtout COD as my current gfx card sucks and in 1280x1024 res im lucky to hit 125 fps and i need to hit 333 at minimum, This is in COD 4 Codjumper server even with the game tweaks to help.

You kidding? Your eye runs at 24fps, why do you need anything more than 120? Your monitor maxes out at 60fps or 120fps surely?

That card will easily hit 40-50 in COD4 at 1920x1200, so at your res should easily make 60fps.

Small suggestion - you're getting lots of good advice from everybody - perhaps you should take some of it!

You will also find that the answers to many of your questions (i.e. card size, PSU requirements) can be easily ascertained by a quick visit to the manufacturers website or a google search.

Sorry to be harsh but you haven't even said thanks to anyone yet and keep *bumping* the topic with more questions...
