Hi, i purchased a radeon 1900xtx around 3 or 4 months ago from OCUK. It's been running fine, but ive noticed something recently that has been bugging me.

I understand that this card basically runs at a slower speed while in 2d mode.. i.e windows. The GPU Core speed is 500mhz (499) but in the ATI drivers settings the requested speed is 647mhz.

I have always accepted that the faster speed comes in games, but i wanted to see proof of this. So i simply installed ATI Tray Tools from Guru3d, and ran the hardware monitor. I ticked to display GPU speed, went in to warcraft for 10 minutes.. came back out and low and behold it hadn't changed.

ATI tray tools can also show an OSD of your FPS and GPU/MEM speed etc. Again with this running, the GPU stays at 500mhz flat when going in and out ow wow, cs:s, bf2 etc.

Anyone know whats going on? will the GPU always report as 500? is something broken?

Im using the latest omega drivers, but have always tried this with the 7.1 cats. Spec in sig.

EDIT: just wanted to add i did search for this before, and i know it's something that has been talked about - but most threads say it should change.. and you should be able to see the change reflected in the driver - mines not changeing no-matter what i do :(

Cheers
